Cardinal is a restaurant on Eyre Place in Edinburgh, led by chef patron Tomás Gormley. We serve seasonal tasting menus built around Scottish produce, increasingly from our own kitchen garden, cooked with care, and with a warmth we hope you feel as soon as you sit down.
Cardinal is a MICHELIN Guide Recommended Restaurant, holds a Good Food Guide Very Good distinction, and is named in the Square Meal Top 100 Restaurants 2026.
This year we started growing our own. The Cardinal Kitchen Garden is a regenerative smallholding on the edge of Edinburgh, worked alongside Nick Holmes and the family at Bramblewood Farm in Pathhead, Midlothian.
The first beds are planted: tomatoes, courgettes, beetroot, salad leaves, herbs and flowers. It's a short drive from the farm to Eyre Place, and over time we want most of the fresh produce on our menus to come from here.
Whatever the kitchen can't use goes back to Pathhead as compost. The £25 market menu, at lunch on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, is built around the garden's produce.

The full restaurant is available for private hire for up to 24, or our private dining room for up to 10. For celebrations, corporate dinners, weddings and Christmas parties.
